Too many demands are made on
us and Meditation Why is meditation so important? Why are more and more people turning to meditation as a survival technique in their everyday lives? Here are a few reasons:
Life is so hectic that we rarely find time for ourselves. Too many demands are made on us and if we’re not careful, it could result in major dis-ease. The more you train yourself to meditate, the more your mind will become peaceful and you can finally experience true happiness. You can stay in control during difficult times and have the ability to make decisions easily. Even if you work with someone you just don’t get a long with, maybe a boss who goes out of his/her way to make your life miserable. With the ability to meditate you find yourself more in control and the things that person does just does not affect you like they have in the past. Without control your emotions fluctuate up and down like a yoyo, depending on the situations that arise. By maintaining a balanced mind you are able to keep calm in any given situation. In a meditative state you completely shut off your thoughts and dreams and feel calm and completely focused. Beginners will want to find a quiet space to begin the meditation session. When you get more experienced at it, you will be able to quiet your mind in the busiest and noisiest places. It just takes practice. You can sit cross-legged, you can sit in a chair, or you can lie down. Just make sure you are comfortable. Some techniques involve total silence and deep breathing, or humming or chanting. It’s your choice. There are so many books and CDs you can use to help as you begin to learn this art. You can meditate with your eyes closed, but don’t fall asleep. I prefer to keep my eyes open and focus on a candle burning or a crystal that is for a specific need that I want to achieve. A few of my favorite CD’s are:
Contacting your Spirit Guides: Sylvia Browne Morning and evening meditations: Louise L. Hay There are all sorts of benefits to meditation:
Generally a meditation session will take about 20 minutes. More experienced people can meditate for a few minutes while at work, in their car, or in some other stressful situation. This short break brings their mind to complete calm and peacefulness so they can continue on in their day without the stress. You can also meditate for an hour or more depending on what you want to accomplish. Prior to meditating make sure you have an agenda of what benefit you want from this session. |
